Before the white man, 50,000 grizzly bears ranged from Texas to Oregon. Due to Hunting, poaching, and habitat encroachment, less than 1000 survived in the lower 48 states. The 1960s decree issued by the national park service stated that the public cant feed the animals. The old dump sites the bears foraged in were closed and hotelkeepers cant give the bears food anymore. The bears looked for food in campgrounds and outside the parks causing shootings resulting in possible extinction unless Conservationists devise a solution.
