At least 50,000 grizzly bears inhabited the U.S. Due to hunting and poaching no more than 1,000 survive today. In the 1960s the National Park Service issued a decree banning public feeding of bears. The bears began to look for food in campgrounds, and parks, Inevitably, they were shot, and began to disappear. Conservationists must devise a solution.
