InDesign Resources

InDesign, like all sophisticated computer software, is incredibly powerful. Most professional book publishers and magazine companies use InDesign to layout their documents. Although its features are almost limitless, we will only scratch the surface of what the program can do.

If you're feeling lost when it comes to learning InDesign, or if you just like to take things at your own pace, these links will help you review some of the things we have covered in class and introduce some features of the program that we won't have time to discuss this semester.

Video Tutorials

Lynda.com InDesign CS3 Essential Training — If you don't watch any other InDesign tutorial videos, you should watch these. Many of the videos are only available to paying subscribers, but there's a pretty good collection of introductory videos available for free.

Total Training for InDesign CS2 — These videos are for CS2, the previous version of InDesign, but many features of the software haven't changed, so the videos are still relevant and helpful. The site  offers a free guest pass, which will give you access to all of the CS2 videos for 48 hours. If you'd like to go on a "learn InDesign binge," the guest pass might be worth checking out. (Disclaimer: I haven't tried it yet.)

Marrutt Software Training — A few more free videos about InDesign CS2. Some of these are truncated, to get you to buy the software.
