English 309 Week 4 Update
by Quinn Warnick - Friday, 30 January 2009, 1:31 PM

Class,

I have updated the course website with details for Week 4. Here is a quick overview:

- On Tuesday, we will review Chapter 6 (which you've already read) and Chapter 7 (which you should read for Tuesday), focusing on strategies for developing the Qualifications, Costs, and Benefits sections of your proposal. We will also briefly discuss the peer review exercise we completed on Thursday, so please take the time to look through your reviewers' comments before you come to class.

- On Thursday, we will review Chapter 10, take a quiz on Chapters 7 and 10, and spend the rest of the time in a document-design workshop. To participate in the workshop, you will need to bring a current draft of your Unit #1 proposal, which should include your Situation Report and a Plan/Methods section.

Throughout the week, you should be working on your Unit #1 proposal by revising your Situation Report and drafting your Plan/Methods section. At this point, you should know how much research you still need to conduct to gather information for your proposal. If you still need to talk to people in your organization or compile data from online sources, that should be your top priority over the next week. By the end of Week 4, you should be done with your initial research and ready to move fully into "writing mode."

If you have any questions about these items, or if you're feeling stuck on your proposal, please let me know.

Have a great weekend,

Quinn
