Journal #1: CD Artwork and Liner Notes
For this journal entry, select one of the CDs you have brought to class today and briefly answer the following questions, in mini-essay format. Spend approximately ten minutes writing.
1. Why did you select this particular CD?
2. How do the visual elements and the textual elements on the CD case work together? Is the text readable, or is it obscured by the artwork? Do the visual elements tell a story about any of the songs?
3. Do the artwork and liner notes "match" the music on the CD? In other words, if you had never heard of this musical artist, would you be able to get a sense of his/her/its music from looking at the case and reading the notes?
4. How would you improve the layout or design of the case?
